Grub Preventative
What are grubs?
Grubs are one of the most destructive lawn insects in Illinois, with populations increasing every year. Grubs are the larvae of several species of Scarab beetles. Common species are:
Japanese, May, June, Ataenius and Masked Chafer beetles. Grubs live hidden in the soil, where they feed on the root systems of the grass, often destroying large sections of the lawn.
Left unprotected, your turf could suffer severe damage from grubs!
Lawn injury is first noticed by a gradual yellowing, browning and wilting. Later stages appear as irregular brown, dead patches. Grubs feed on the roots, allowing the turf to be pulled up or rolled back easily. Skunks, raccoons, moles, and birds will often tear up the turf to feed on grubs, creating even more damage than the grubs would have caused alone.
GRUB LIFE CYCLE AND TIMELINE
+ Is the treatment guaranteed?
Yes. The product we use has worked so well for us, we have not had one breakthrough in 10 years since using it. If, for any reason, a breakthrough would occur after receiving the service, we would correct the sitituation, including reseeding and renovation at no cost to you.
+ When and how is it applied?
In our area, the application time of this product is typically around 4th of July. We monitor when the June, Masked Chafers & Japanase beetles emerge, so we know the best time to perform this service. The product is a granular product that works best after being watered in, but is not necessary for protection. This is a huge plus for larger properties that do not have sprinkler systems
+ How safe is the product?
This product targets only the grubs and no other organisms in the ground which is one of the main reasons we love this product! It targets the grub to pre-molt, leaving them defenseless and they cannot survive.
